Keri Russell says ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ Script Overwhelmed Her

As one of the new additions to the Star Wars universe, Keri Russell, who will be playing Zorri Bliss, has explained before how much she loves her character and its accompanying costume. However, something that impacted her even more was when she was able to look over a version of the script given to her by J.J. Abrams.

According to a recent interview with Russell by the Associated Press, first impressions, it overwhelmed her:

“When I read his script that he wrote I cried. I mean who knows what it will turn out to be and I hope it remains true to what he originally wanted.”

Russell said Abrams was the right man for the job and remembers when Abrams first told her that her character would be wearing a helmet:

“He’s not trying to change it to be something else. He really respects what it is… I was like, ‘That is my dream job. I can see everyone. No one can see me. Hello. Amazing!’”

Not only does Abrams respect what Star Wars means to people, but so does Russell:

“I have such memories of Princess Leia and Chewbacca and Han Solo, I have such memories of them— like everyone does. So, yes, it’s incredible to get to be whatever part I am.”

‘Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’, releasing in theaters on December 20th, will be the last installment of a nine-part movie series related to the Skywalker’s story that started over 40 years ago.
