Disney Expands Presence in Both the Film and Gaming Industry

As we are all well aware by now, Disney is not shy in buying out properties they see fit to expand upon. They also aren’t afraid of making money, and realizing the industries that bring in the most revenue.

As Disney continues to expand, they look to expand their footprint in both the film and gaming industries. Sometimes though, that includes hiring on ex-executives from other companies.

To start off with, Disney has recently hired former Playstation executive, John Drake. Drake will assume the role of VP of Business Development and Licensing for Games for Disney.   His primary responsibility will be to “help pair amazing developers and publishers with the best IP in the world.”

“I’ve been a Disney fan my entire life – animation, live action, Pixar – and now Star Wars, Marvel, Fox and everything else? It’s an amazing time to bring those worlds to the games and interactive space! And it’s a wonderful team – ‘It takes people to make the dream a reality’.”

As Disney continues to grow its presence in the gaming industry, they also are looking to expand its presence in the filming industry through a new state-of-the-art Industrial Light & Magic facility in Australia.

Bob Bredow, Executive Creative Director and Head of ILM said:

“Sydney is an ideal location for our fifth studio,” says Bredow. “There is abundant artistic and technical talent in the region, which are both keys to ILM’s culture of innovation.”

According to Bredow, ILM will be working on upcoming projects such as ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’, ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘The Irishman’.

As Disney’s massive expansion continues to increase, success is what nobody does better than Disney.
