With The Rise of Skywalker looming on the horizon, leaks and rumors tend to flood the airwaves like a tsunami at times. Just at Disney’s D23 Expo last month, we got new posters, a trailer for The Mandalorian and a short sizzle reel for The Rise of Skywalker.
Now, it looks like things are heating up already once again. A user on Reddit that goes by u/Oni_Operative-0259 claims to be a movie projectionist for his local Regal Cinema theater and has received an official email confirmation from his management that Trailer #2 for The Rise of Skywalker will be shown alongside the upcoming Maleficent II: Mistress of Evil.
In all honesty, another trailer release at this time of year aligns with the timelines of previous Star Wars movies from the Skywalker saga. For example, The Last Jedi trailer #2 was released on October 9th, 2017. In other words, previous history indicates that a trailer release in October is imminent.
On another note, it appears this leak may have confirmed the exact date as well. Maleficent II: Mistress of Evil opens in theaters on October 18th. If this leak holds true, then this is probably when trailer #2 will be released to the public. Unfortunately, though, Disney sometimes likes to throw us a curve ball once in a while, so until we get an official announcement from Disney, nothing is official.
For right now though, everything is pointing in the right direction for an October release of trailer #2 for The Rise of Skywalker. Shortly after, you’ll be witnessing the end of a story of a generation, coming December 20th to a local theater near you.
