Star Wars has successfully dipped its toe in the realm of live action television with The Mandalorian, and we have the promise of the Kenobi series filming in 2020. Now, according to recent information, the franchise may be ready to completely dive into another show. The content? The much-beloved Doctor Aphra comics.
Jason Ward of Making Star Wars told Inverse today the series would be “a Lucasfilm-Marvel venture with both companies teaming up to bring a Star Wars show to the small screen.”
It would also speak to the potential of future Lucasfilm-Marvel collaborations. Earlier this year, Marvel worked with Del Rey Publishing to give us Alphabet Squadron, a novel whose plot crossed over with the Marvel miniseries Star Wars: TIE Fighter. Moving on to creating television based on Marvel Star Wars comics would be an exciting new development.
In other television news, the Cassian Andor series is slated to start filming in June of next year, according to Bespin Bulletin. The series is looking two cast two young child actors – one to play Cassian, and one to play his sister, both in flashback scenes. It seems we will get a look into the background of the dashing Rebellion hero. It is believed filming will take place in the UK.
