The Mandalorian Announces His Return

We’re back from our holiday break, just in time for the season finale of The Mandalorian. What a finale it was! Don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything for you. And to top it off, Jon Favreau tweeted earlier today announcing the second season of the show, coming fall of next year.

The tweet featured a sculpt of a Gamorrean, the pig-like creatures we met in Return of the Jedi. According to a tweet from Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak, this sculpt was created by Tony McVey, who originally worked on the Gamorreans in RotJ.

While we’ve known for a while a second season was highly possible, it’s nice to get a solid confirmation. The only downfall is the wait – assuming season 2 will start in November, we’ve got nearly a year until we see new episodes. But, with major Baby Yoda merchandise coming in May, fans will have something to hang onto – literally.

Another thing to look forward to is the seventh season of much-beloved animated series The Clone Wars, coming to us in February! Hopefully, this will help tide the fandom over until the fall. Better yet, the new season will cover the Siege of Mandalore, which will tie in nicely with The Mandalorian.

And last but certainly not least, we received a sneak peek at the upcoming Star Wars 9-movie collection, which will contain 27 (!) discs, encased in a booklet featuring concept art from all the films. It comes in a very elegant box featuring the Death Star. The box set includes both 4K and regular Blu-ray versions of the film, as well as digital downloads. And of course, plenty of special features and bonus material, we can assume.

And hey, wouldn’t it be nice if maybe it had the original theatrical releases for the original trilogy? One can only dream. Regardless, the collection will be a must-have for any fan. We don’t have a release date yet, but we could guess it would come out soon after The Rise of Skywalker releases, which should be in the spring/summer of 2020.

The Rise of Skywalker has Star Wars fans divided, but we can agree on one thing – we’ve got an exciting year ahead of us, and so many ways to explore our favorite galaxy.
