The year 2019 has blown past us and 2020 is already aiming to be an exciting year for Star Wars fans. With the expected beginning of production for the upcoming Kenobi series to start in Spring and Season Two of The Mandalorian coming later this Fall, fans have every right to be as giddy and excited for the future of their beloved franchise more than anyone else. Not to mention, rumor has it that Kathleen Kennedy is also expected to announce the director for the upcoming untitled Star Wars film slated for December of 2022. It’s a long way off, but that hasn’t kept fans from speculating what it could be about.
Speaking of rumors, according to Kessel Run Transmissions, fans can now expect a sequel TV show to the well-loved Rebels series that left us with a cliffhanger involving Ahsoka and Sabine Wren on a quest to find their missing friend, Ezra Bridger. After Ezra’s brave move to take him and his enemy (Thrawn) far away from his home planet of Lothal by utilizing the space whales (Purrgil’s) ability to jump to lightspeed, up to this point, Ezra hasn’t been seen nor heard of ever again. Making a follow-up series would be a no-brainer for Lucasfilm and would answer plenty of unanswered questions fans have been longing for some time now.
Unfortunately, nothing more than a rumor has been made of it so far, but have no doubt, if this rumor is true, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear something soon from Lucasfilm. We’ll keep you updated on the validity of this rumor once more information gets released.
