The Rise of Skywalker Receives Three Academy Award Nominations

Oh, how the turntables! The Rise of Skywalker is one of the most controversial Star Wars films in the entire franchise. With hashtags being blasted out on social media to save Ben Solo and a plethora of other things circulating around, it’s a surprise the film has gotten to where it is today with three Academy Award nominations for Visual Effects, Sound Editing, and Original Score. Whether you agree with the story choices or not, these are three things we can all agree upon it deserves.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, Hollywood king of lens flares, no wonder the film has gotten on the short list for some of these Academy Awards. With that said, all I want is for John Williams to win one last Academy Award in honor of his dedication to the Star Wars franchise and giving fans something unique and emotionally real.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best when the winners are announced on February 9th.
