Many of us are aware of the fact that The Rise of Skywalker had plenty of scenes cut from the final product in order to alleviate pacing and storytelling issues. However, what comes after the film’s release is the ‘what could have been’.
Today, we got some scrapped concept art that ‘could have been’ used in the final edit of The Rise of Skywalker. The art features a glimpse of Vader’s castle and a creature called the Oracle, that was leaked by Jason Ward from MakingStarWars that described this scene as:
“Kylo Ren needs the Wayfinder device, I’m told. The fleet is the key Kylo Ren needs to unlock Palpatine’s legacy. Kylo gets this device from an alien that looks like a spider with an infant’s face that acts as an oracle.”MakingStarWars, Jason Ward
Let’s take a closer look at this ‘Oracle’:
Oof. That looks pretty creep. And to be honest, I don’t know what to make of it. I’m not sure why Abrams decided to cut this from the film, but I feel like it would have added a deeper meaning and understanding to the opening scene of what Kylo was doing with that Wayfinder device. Although I find The Rise of Skywalker to be my most favorite Star Wars film from the Skywalker saga, my one complaint was that the opening scene felt a little rushed and that it was missing something.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to see these deleted scenes from The Rise of Skywalker when it’s released on DVD and Blu-Ray in the coming months.
