Hello, there! We’ve got a few updates from the Star Wars publishing world for you. There’s some meaty stuff, so let’s dive right in!
First up, Del Rey Publishing tweeted an update on this year’s Thrawn novel, Chaos Rising. As often happens, the release date has been pushed back from May to October 6th of this year. According to the blurb sent out by Del Rey, this delay has nothing to do with the book itself, but rather, “scheduling issues”. In the meantime, they teased at the appearance of the book, including a cover image and pages and blue page edges, in honor of the Chiss himself. Check it out below:
Updated as of 1/31/2020:
Del Rey has offered an additional token of kindness by bringing back the traditional “Dramatis Personae” that was found in Star Wars books many years ago.
For those wondering what this is, here’s a simple explanation:
The book is still available for pre-order. It is the first book in the new trilogy, Thrawn: Ascendancy.
Speaking of all things blue, the new Marvel Star Wars comic, Star Wars #2, will give us a clue to solving the mystery of how Maz Kanata came into possession of Luke’s original lightsaber. The series, set after the events of Empire Strikes Back, shows a mysterious figure catching Luke’s saber on its fall from Cloud City. You can see him below:
It seems to be a Jedi, but who? One we already know, or is someone new in the mix? The issue will also show how Luke’s connection to the Force is affected by his confrontation with Vader, and how this mystery Jedi steps in to help.
Finally, another Project Luminous update from ABC correspondent Clayton Sandell – the project will be a publishing effort, despite previous rumors of any electronic media being involved. “Don’t hold your breath for any movie/TV/game tie-ins. On 2/24 we’ll learn about stories, characters, release dates & MOST intriguing: the ERA!”
So, we’re looking at books, and potentially comics as well. February 24th gets closer every day, so stay tuned for updates!
Thanks for checking in with us! May the Force be with you.
