A Nightsister Backstory That Was Almost a Reality in “The Clone Wars”

Fans of “The Clone Wars” might be interested to know that a certain mysterious and powerful Nightsister almost had her own backstory.

It’s been revealed by Barbara Goodson, the voice actress of Mother Talzin, that certain backstory plots for her character were being considered by Dave Filoni at one time, before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney. These plotlines would likely have occurred after what is now the soon-to-air season 7 of “The Clone Wars” on Disney+.

According to Goodson, Filoni had said to her “I’m thinking about this backstory for Mother Talzin in the past. I’m gonna run it by George.”

Goodson says her response to this revelation was an enthusiastic “Yes! Yes!”

This would likely have been the fans’ response as well.

While not known for certain, indications seem to suggest thatTalzin’s backstory in “The Clone Wars” would have added details not found in the then-upcoming comic series The Son of Dathomir.

Introduced in 2011 on “The Clone Wars,” not much us known about Talzin’s past. The Dathomirian Zabrak was a powerful Force user, Clan Mother of the Nightsisters, and the mother of Darth Maul (himself a Nightbrother).

Is it possible that her backstory may one day be revealed, or was the ball dropped forever when Lucasfilm changed hands? As Mother Talzin said, “Where one sees failure, others see opportunity.” It would no doubt be an intriguing story, should someone seize the opportunity to tell it!
