ONE year ago, today, Star Wars inspired me to launch Far, Far Away News, an outlet to allow myself and other beloved Star Wars fans to share their love for the franchise they hold so dear. Although I haven’t been a diehard fan of Star Wars my entire life, I’ve always enjoyed the adventures it took me on, while also giving back and teaching me many valuable lessons. Star Wars has helped shape me into the person I am today.
It wasn’t until the release of The Force Awakens that I realized how connected I felt with Star Wars. Before I became the stereotypical diehard Star Wars fan, I was a fan of The Lord of the Rings. Ever since I watched the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings, I loved how it made me feel. It took me, what felt like, on an endless adventure of love, adventure, and sacrifice. It was the first story that brought me pure joy- until Star Wars. I even bought an authentic replica of the One Ring made by the son of the original ring maker for the film. I have all the books. I still haven’t finished reading them, but that’s beside the point. I love The Lord of the Rings. However, I love Star Wars even more. I don’t want this to spark an endless debate of which franchise is better. That’s not my intent. My intent is to tell you that Star Wars is the only franchise that changed me. Star Wars isn’t just a story, it’s an experience. Its story is unfolding before our eyes and is constantly changing and shaping human nature. That’s what you call a cultural phenomenon- something that changes who you are.
Star Wars has changed me for the better. Without it, I’m not lost, but I am not the same person. That’s why my hope is that Star Wars continues to positively change you as it continues to do for me.
Whenever you feel like the world, or even the fandom is taking a toll on you, always remember:
“I’m one with the Force, the Force is with me.”
You are ONE with the Force. Together, over the next year, let’s make a goal to continue to build and grow a positive community here at Far, Far Away News where Star Wars will change you as it did for me.
Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported our page thus far and for the incredible team I have that supports our site’s dedication to serving Star Wars fans with positive, creative content.
May the Force be with you. Always.
