Star Wars fans received big news tonight regarding the next movie in the franchise via Hollywood Reporter. Director J.D. Dillard (Sleight) and writer Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD) have been chosen to develop an untitled SW movie.
It is unclear whether this will be for theatrical release or for Disney+, but Bob Iger’s recent statement that Disney is shifting focus to the streaming platform might be a clue. The next theatrical film is still on the calendar for December of 2023, so we have a while to wait regardless.
According to Deadline, the film will take place on Exegol, the Sith planet ol’ Palps used as a base. This is the only detail we’ve heard this far.

Dillard is known for his genre thriller Sleight, and also has SW experience – he has production credit on TFA, and played a stormtrooper in TRoS. Owens has worked with Marvel on some of their television shows as a writer. Seems like a promising duo for our next film adventure!
In gaming news, a Jedi: Fallen Order sequell is definitely in development at Respawn, according to Bespin Bulletin. It is rumored to be set for a fall of 2022 release. If you haven’t managed to get your hands on Fallen Order yet, you still have time!
