Earlier this month, Making Star Wars reported that Michael Biehn was cast in the second season of The Mandalorian as a bounty hunter from Din Djarrin’s past. This hasn’t been confirmed by Disney/Lucasfilm, but Making Star Wars and other news outlets claim to have reliable sources.
In fact, the website updated its information on Biehn’s involvement this week. The first bit of information had to do with character dialogue. Biehn’s bounty hunter, “supposedly has a lot of lines that riff on things Biehn has said in his past iconic roles like Aliens, Terminator, Navy Seals, and Tombstone. If you’re an 80’s action movie fan, there’s going to be something you might recognize.” I hope this is true – getting a throwback like that would be epic.
The second thread had to do with Biehn’s costume design. Originally, Making Star Wars claimed the costume would be reminiscent of Biehn’s outfit in Tombstone, from his character Johnny Ringo. However, he later corrected himself and revealed a character sketch.
Making Star Wars doesn’t say how he got this, and again, nothing has been confirmed by the big bosses.
In other Mandalorian updates, HN Entertainment reported that cinematographer David Klein and director Robert Rodriguez worked together on the show. Rodriguez worked on films like Desperado and Sin City, among others. Klein worked on HBO’s Deadwood.
Seems like the second season of Mando is going to be packed with talent, both on screen and behind the camera. Can’t wait to see what they have in store this Fall!
