Mando-Mania

I have made my peace with the fact that I have become obsessive-compulsive over The Mandalorian.

I resisted for the better part of three weeks before I watched the full first season of The Mandalorian for the fourth time. Four! There are movies I am a fan of that I haven’t even watched that many times.

I am completely addicted.

I could blame it on the cutting-edge filming and photography. The artistry pulls you into the story as much as the plot. Maybe more so in the fourth episode. It’s clear and distinctive, allowing your eyes to take in the setting, while keeping your brain focused on the characters.

Or maybe it is the casting. All of them! Every single person is perfect, each of their particularly scripted parts specific and well crafted.  We didn’t have to get to know them through long seasons of story to be drawn in.

And Pedro! Fully costumed and masked, he is still capable of portraying a quick efficiency just in the way he holds himself and his gliding walk.  Plus, there is something wonderful in knowing that behind that hard mask and deep, rasping voice is the baby-faced Pascal.

If all of that wasn’t enough, there is The Child. Sigh. How did John Favereau know that this child would capture our hearts? He turned us all into members of the Mudhorn Clan from the moment we first saw him. I’m not the kind of person who wears T-shirts with my favorite characters: wrong body-type entirely. But I would wear that signet anytime, anywhere.

The Mandalorian came right out right in time to take some of the edge off my writhing impatience for The Rise of Skywalker. But I don’t think anything is going to help me make it calmly to the second season of Mando. Wish me luck, guys, I’m already dyin’.
