Sam Witwer Talks Maul Reshoots in ‘Solo’

We’ve dug into certain parts of Sam Witwer’s recent interview with Star Wars Holocron, where he spends a lot of time talking about Maul. Witwer has voiced this character for years and years, so he had a lot to say on the subject.

He spoke about the short scene at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, where Maul speaks to Qi’ra via hologram. According to Witwer, the scene had to go through reshoots to get it just right.

“There was a reshoot that had to happen because people like me and Dave Filoni were letting them know there were a lot of details that weren’t consistent,” he told SWH. “[There were] a lot of things in this script where he growls, he does this, he does that.”

Apparently, Witwer is sitting on a mountain of insider info regarding Maul. “There’s stories about Maul I won’t be able to tell for another 20 years…There’s just stories I can’t go anywhere near until about 20 years have passed and I think people are going to be very shocked when I eventually tell those stories. They’re related to all these things. All kinds of stuff.”

Twenty years is a long stretch, but if the stories are as good as he claims, they’ll be worth the wait!

Be sure to check out Witwer’s portrayal of Maul in the final few episodes of The Clone Wars, airing Fridays on Disney+.
