Dave Filoni Talks ‘Rebels’ Sequel, Live-Action Ahsoka

Deadline recently spoke with Dave Filoni about his various projects from a galaxy far, far away. Alongside the inevitable Clone Wars questions were queries about Rebels and The Mandalorian

His role in The Mandalorian is slightly reduced for season two. “I just did one episode this coming season. I’m really excited about it, I wrote it and directed it,” Filoni told Deadline. “You know, to be in that situation in a live-action show with someone like [Jon Favreau] and a fantastic team of people, it’s a really fortunate place for me to land.”

Speaking of live-action, Filoni was asked if we’ll see a live-action Ahsoka in the near future. He talks around the answer, understandably, but basically boils it down to four words: “…you know, we’ll see.” Fair enough!

What about other beloved characters, like our favorites from Rebels? Will we see any new content for them in the future? While he doubts a entire follow-up series will happen, he did say this.

“I think that there’s always potential for stories that involve the characters from Rebels, which is maybe a better way to put it. They’ve all earned their place in the galaxy, so to speak, so I’m sure there’s some more of them to do.”

When asked whether we’ll see more of Sabine’s story with the darksaber, Filoni responded that “there’s always potential for further stories.” He added that “ it’s something I’ve given a decent amount of thought to,” so don’t give up hope, people!
