The High Republic Delayed Until Early 2021

COVID-19 has put a halt on many films and television shows meant to release this year. The newest addition to the line of delayed projects is Star Wars’ massive publishing project, The High Republic.

Michael Siglain, creative director at Lucasfilm Publishing, released a statement today announcing the new date for the launch of The High Republic. The project will begin January of 2021, starting with the release of Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule and A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland on January 5th. Claudia Gray’s contribution, Into the Dark will release February 2nd.

The High Republic will take place 200 years before the events of the prequel trilogy. We’ll see “a time of galactic renaissance, when the Jedi Knights were at their height,” according to Siglain.

The authors involved include Gray, Soule, and Ireland, as well as Daniel Jose Older and Cavan Scott.

The delay is sad news, but we’re all looking forward to new adventures in a galaxy far, far away. In the meantime, we’ll have the sequel to Alphabet Squadron, Shadow Fall, to tide us over.
